Title: "Family"
I came up with several ideas of groupings based on the idea of
the family. This idea was liked for the way it was viewed as offering
a welcome embrace into the new site. It is orientated as if arms
opened to greet the oncoming arrivals. The tallest sculpture measures
4m high and stands as if a powerful guardian to the others while
the two smaller pieces measuring 2.5m and 2m high huddle closely
together. The greater appearance is of an archway that is only
completed by the viewer's imagination. As with all my sculptures
I attempted to combine simple forms and create a visual balance
that works when viewing all the way around the sculptural group.
Familiar symbols are also used to maintain the thread of my base
philosophy which encompasses new beginnings formed from the egg
of life.
